Resources

The British Centre for Literary Translation is a great place to look for events, workshops and news. The UK Society of Authors’ Translators Association provides advice, runs events and represents us, while the Emerging Translators Network (UK) and the Emerging Literary Translators Network in America are great peer support networks to help you join us.

If you’re interested in meeting fellow translators, workshopping your own German-English translations or taking part in workshopping other people’s work, there are a few opportunities:

The Goethe-Institut in Glasgow offers a Stammtisch and a Theory Lab for translators. Their cousins in London offer a monthly Translation Workshop in person and remotely. If you’re in Berlin, we run an in-person Translation Lab every first Thursday of the month. Anyone is welcome: use my contact form to request details.

Finally, here’s my slightly tongue-in-cheek instruction manual on getting a foot into the literary translation door.
